NEWARK—According to a well-placed source, New Jersey Devils goaltender Jacob Markstrom will be sidelined for “weeks.” The prognosis is certainly a lot more encouraging than initially anticipated.

Bruins forward Justin Brazeau had crashed into Markstrom after a shot attempt in the crease 3:09 into the second period of the Devils’ 5-1 win on Wednesday. After Markstrom deflected the shot aside, Brazeau slid into Markstrom, crushing Markstrom’s left leg and foot against a goal post.

Devils goalie Jacob Markstrom will be out for weeks with a lower body injury -- though it's not as bad as initially feared, sources told ESPN.
