Egypt will not participate in the displacement of Palestinians, an "act of injustice" that would threaten Egyptian security, President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi said on Wednesday in his first public response to U.

Trump floated the idea on Saturday, saying he would urge the leaders of the two Arab countries to take in Gaza’s now largely homeless population, so that “we just clean out that whole thing.”

Egypt cannot take part in the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi said, after his US counterpart Donald Trump suggested the war-torn territory’s inhabitants could be moved to Egypt and Jordan.

President Trump said he had spoken to Jordan’s leader and planned to call Egypt’s on Sunday. Most of Gaza’s two million residents have been displaced in 15 months of fighting.

Trump said he discussed his vision on a call earlier in the day with King Abdullah II of Jordan and would speak Sunday with President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi of Egypt.

President Trump called for Egypt and Jordan to accept additional Palestinian refugees while suggesting a plan to "just clean out" Gaza.

President Trump said he told King Abdullah II of Jordan during a phone call Saturday that he would like Jordan and Egypt to take in more Palestinians from Gaza, an idea that is likely to reignite debate about the future of nearly two million Palestinians.

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi asserted on Wednesday that Egypt “cannot participate in the injustice of displacing the Palestinian people.”El-Sisi asserted that such displacement "can never be tolerated or allowed" due to its potential threat to Egypt's national security in his first public comment on Trump's recent proposals to relocate the Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.
