Albertsons announced a CEO succession plan under which Susan Morris, executive vice president and chief operations officer, will assume the role of CEO following the planned retirement of Vivek Sankaran, effective May 1, 2025.

Susan Morris, who has worked for nearly 40 years at the supermarket chain, will take over the top role on May 1 when Vivek Sankaran retires.

US retailer Albertsons said its CEO Vivek Sankaran will retire and insider Susan Morris would assume the top role.

Albertsons (NYSE: ACI) announced March 3 that Sankaran — who is based in Dallas-Fort Worth along with several members of his executive team, although the company is headquartered in Idaho — would retire May 1. He will be replaced by Susan Morris, currently the company's chief operating officer. She appears to be based in Boise.
