A zoo in Switzerland said winter storms allowed two red pandas to escape their enclosure and one of the animals wandered all the way into nearby woodlands.

A pair of red pandas broke out of their zoo enclosure and escaped into a nearby forest. The female cubs, Li and Yen, made the daring getaway after heavy snowfall caused plants in the panda enclosure to collapse,

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Firefighters extinguished a blaze Wednesday at the RainForest exhibit at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Animals and staff were not hurt, said a spokeswoman for the zoo. The fire is at the exterior of the RainForest exhibit, located on Wildlife Way, according to the Cleveland fire division’s social media page.

Leadership at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is breathing a collective sigh of relief after an intense fire was successfully extinguished by the Cleveland Division of Fire, limiting damage to the exterior of a building at the future site of the Primate Forest.

The zoo experienced various types of precipitation on Thursday, including snow, rain, sleet and freezing rain.
