Fox News overtakes NBC in primetime, highest rated in non-election year
Fox News Channel (FNC) concluded 2025 with the highest-rated non-election year in its history, officially surpassing broadcast network NBC in weekday primetime viewership, according to data released by Nielsen Media Research.
Since the start of 2025, Fox News has averaged 3.2 million weekday primetime viewers, ranking as the second highest-rated network in all of television and outperforming both CBS and NBC.
Fox News remained in second place in total primetime viewership and jumped to third from fifth in demo viewership among all basic cable networks. In total day, it remained in first place in total viewers and in second place in the total day demo.
The Fox Corp-owned cable giant averaged 3.2 million viewers in weekday primetime, beating NBC’s 3.1 million, according to Nielsen figures.

Katie Pavlich leaving Fox News for rival network
Conservative commentator Katie Pavlich is leaving her position as a Fox News contributor to become a prime time host on NewsNation. The outlet said in a news release that Pavlich will host a 10:00 p.m.
Fox News averaged 2.72 million primetime viewers in 2025. This was an increase of 14% and was led by “Jesse Watters Primetime, Greg Gutfeld’s show and Sean Hannity’s long-running program. This primetime average was 80% higher than both CNN and MS NOW combined. The top primetime show belonged to Watters which averaged 3.6 million viewers.
Katie Pavlich, a longtime contributor to Fox News, is leaving the network to join NewsNation.Pavlich, a conservative political analyst, will have a nightly 10 p.m ET program starting early next year,
