Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove has visited Chicago to personally observe the start of an immigration enforcement crackdown long promised by President Donald Trump's administration in the nation's third-largest city.

The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement highlighted its activities in the Bronx after a series of raids in Chicago.

The number of arrests there was uncertain. Illinois officials, including the governor, said they had not been given advance notice.
