Steven Spielberg is gearing up to direct a new film starring Josh O’Connor and Emily Blunt. The still untitled “event film” is set for a theatrical release on June 12, 2026, Universal Pictures said Tuesday.

It's a weird facet of Hollywood that movies are often given release dates before other important milestones have been reached, like the movies being finished, or the movies being named, or sometimes the movies having even been written.

Spielberg's untitled Amblin and Universal film will take the date previously belonging to an event pic from the directing team behind indie sensation and Oscar darling 'Everything Everywhere All at Once.
