Coca-Cola has recalled some of its soft drinks in Europe after higher-than-normal levels of a chemical called chlorate were detected in bottles and cans at a Belgian production plant

Cans of Coca-Cola and Appletiser recalled in UK amid chlorate findings - All affected cans have the production codes from 328 GE to 338 GE, which can be found on the base of the can.

Coca-Cola has started a recall of several soft drink products in Europe after higher-than-normal levels of chlorate were detected.

“The Food Standards Agency is aware of an international product withdrawal and recall by Coca-Cola Europacific Partners of a small number of their soft drinks containing higher levels of a chemical called chlorate,” FSA head of incidents Tina Potter told Food Manufacture.

Luxembourg and the Netherlands, where the majority of affected products have been withdrawn from sale. Routine testing identified that certain products contained elevated levels of chlorate.
