NOGALES, Ariz. (KVOA) — Interstate 19 is shutdown in both directions after a fatal crash. Both directions of Interstate 19 are closed near Nogales, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation due to a fatal rollover crash at kilometer 12, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The proposed freeway would run from Wickenburg to Nogales and has been subject to lawsuit filed by a conservation group.

Conservation groups say the proposed Arizona routes for an Interstate 11 project failed to consider habitat for imperiled desert species.

I-19 has been closed in both directions by a deadly crash near Nogales. The road is closed near State Route 289 and drivers are being diverted at Mariposa Road, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
