Spanish rider Jorge Martín, the current MotoGP world champion, suffered a serious accident during a practice session at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia while preparing for the upcoming season.

MotoGP world champion Jorge Martin was taken to hospital Wednesday after crashing on the opening day of pre-season testing in Malaysia. Trackhouse team rider Raul Fernandez of Spain also crashed on an eventful first day of testing and was ruled out of the remaining two days with hand and foot fractures.

The reigning MotoGP champion lost control of his bike on turn two where a highside launched the 27-year-old into the air before he landed hard on the tarmac.
