The FOX 56 Weather Authority expects the next round of snow to hit central Kentucky on Friday morning and could linger overnight.

Some mixing in of sleet and/or rain is expected at least over southern Middle Tennessee by midday on Friday. Some mixing may even approach the I-840 or I-40 corridor for a short time. That said, snow is the most likely precipitation type through the duration of the storm in Nashville.

Another massive winter storm is forecast to pummel the southern and eastern U.S., with impacts from Texas to the Carolinas.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — All of Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky are under a Winter Storm Warning starting Friday. The warning for Lincoln, Moore, and Franklin Counties runs from Midnight Friday to 6 AM Saturday. The rest of Middle TN and Southern KY are under the warning from 3 AM Friday to 6 AM Saturday.

Louisville-area schools are watching the weather forecast as a winter storm system is expected to reach Kentucky on Friday.

JCPS students were set to return to classrooms this following the winter break, but now with more snow in the forecast, students have another snow day.

The National Weather Service projects up to 2 inches of combined ice and snow across much of the area, with higher amounts possible locally.
