Elk Grove police said officers killed a driver who shot at them during a car chase early Sunday morning. The car chase began before midnight just north of the city, police said. During the chase, police said the driver opened fire and struck a Sacramento County sheriff's deputy vehicle.

The standoff ended after 9 p.m. Thursday when the man came out of the house, opened fire at officers and was shot, police said.

Elk Grove police said law enforcement shot and killed a driver who led officers and deputies on a vehicle pursuit overnight, police said on Sunday. During the chase, the driver shot and struck a Sacramento sheriff's patrol car.
