Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers expressed sympathy for Philippe Clement after his sacked Rangers counterpart became the latest victim of the demanding “conditions” of managing one of Glasgow’s two biggest clubs.

Clement was dismissed on Sunday after a 2-0 home defeat to St Mirren left Rangers 13 points behind Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic. Rangers also crashed out of the Scottish Cup with a shock defeat to second-tier Queen's Park.
