With the winter season upon us, winter weather watches are bound to arise. The primary goal of a weather event watch is to help keep residents safe during a winter storm. The National Weather Service has created a set list of criteria for when they issue a Winter Storm Watch.

At 12:57 a.m. on Sunday, the National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch valid from Monday 7 a.m. until Tuesday 1 p.m. for Jefferson and Lewis counties.

The watch was in place for Southern Worcester as well as Hampshire and Hampden counties. "The Winter Storm Watch has been replaced. Please see the latest information from NWS Boston/Norton MA on this developing situation," describes the National Weather Service.
