Former Rep. Matt Gaetz is just that -- a former representative. That made the release of an investigation by the House Ethics Committee into his professional and private life -- begun during former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's 117th Congress -- highly unusual.

The House Ethics Committee found “substantial evidence” that former Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz paid women — including a 17-year-old girl — for sex and used illegal drugs while in Congress, according to a long-awaited report that was released on Monday.

A 37-page report detailed the findings from a yearslong investigation into allegations that Mr. Gaetz engaged in a range of illegal conduct. He has repeatedly denied wrongdoing.

In June, the House Ethics Committee had announced that it was investigating Gaetz over allegations of illicit drug use, sharing inappropriate images on the House floor with other lawmakers, using campaign funds for personal matters, making payments for sex and having sexual contact with a minor.

Ogles did not cooperate with preliminary inquiries, which found he may have intentionally misrepresented the amount of money loaned to his campaign.
