SpaceX launched its first flight of 2025, sending a Falcon 9 rocket into space with a Thuraya 4 satellite from Cape Canaveral Launch Complex 40 in Florida.

SpaceX is targeting Friday, Jan. 3 for its first Falcon 9 mission of 2025 as it launches the Thuraya 4 communications satellite from Cape Canaveral in Florida.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — SpaceX executed its first Falcon 9 launch of 2025, sending the Thuraya 4-NGS communication satellite into geosynchronous transfer orbit. The company opened the four-hour launch window at 8:27 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 3.

SpaceX targets Sunday for Falcon 9's launch of the Astranis: From One to Many mission to a geosynchronous transfer orbit from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. A 2.5-hour launch window will open at midnight. A backup opportunity will be available at 10:43 p.m., providing a 3.75-hour launch window if necessary.

SpaceX is planning to launch another batch of Starlink satellites, including 13 with Direct to Cell capabilities, on a Falcon 9 rocket on Tuesday.

The company plans to launch 22 Starlink satellites from its Falcon 9 rocket on Saturday that can be seen above Southern California.
