Houston uncorked mayhem in the penultimate game of this year's NCAA Tournament with an amazing comeback Saturday to defeat Duke 70-67 in the Final Four. The Cougars erased a 14-point second-half deficit and closed on a 25-8 run to stun the Blue Devils, tying for the second-largest Final Four comeback in the last decade.
Up six on Houston with less than a minute left, the Blue Devils were oh-so-close to a title game berth and a chance to win it all. Instead, they squandered it away in a series of mind-numbing mistakes.

When Duke eliminated Houston in the Sweet 16 of the 2024 NCAA Tournament, poor health made for a convenient and legitimate source of blame. The Cougars were without All-American guard Jamal Shead and menacing defensive stopper JoJo Tugler due to injury.
Despite making it to the NCAA Tournament final in 1983 and 1984, Houston has never won it all. The Cougars fell 54-52 to NC State in 1983 and 84-75 to Georgetown the following year. The Cougars made six March Madness appearances between 1987 and 2019 but never advanced past the Sweet 16.
